I am so excited because we are entering HOLIDAY SEASON!! I am not for the cold like I mentioned in my previous blog but the holiday season brings back some of my most treasured memories. We often get to indulge in some of our favorite foods, listen to Christmas music, see Christmas lights, wear sparkly attire, and are met with love from our family and friends near and far.

But since we are in the month of November... who else is anticipating greens, yams, dressing, mac and cheese, rolls, and if you are of African descent like me, you know there will be lots of sauce and rice!!! (Ghanaian Jollof rice is the best rice and this is not up for debate!) 🤣

Nevertheless, I will need to be working out three to five times a week in order to make room for the food that I am about to receive! With that being said, when you think about making room, where does your mind wander too?

Is it the Jonathan McReynolds song “Make Room” (go check that song out btw), or is it making space for something you haven’t made yourself available for?

My mind immediately goes to the idea that creating space should seem simple, right?

Just identify the mess and clean it up!

Sadly, we often tend to say one thing but implementing the action we set out to do ends up being much more difficult than expected.

In order to create capacity in your life, there are certain things you will find that won’t serve you in your current season.

Currently, God is trying to bring me into the belief that I can become and do all that He has given me. But if I do not make room and create space for the things He wants to do I will miss moments and opportunities to be used by Him!

Meaning - I can’t be around people who don’t mirror this faith. I can’t entertain bad habits, bad thoughts, and bad patterns. I have to learn to be structured and use a calendar. I will have to wake up earlier to start my day so I can spend time with God and make Him a priority.

I am reminded of the story of Mary the mother of Jesus in Luke 1:28 which says, “When the angel entered her home, he greeted her and said, “You are favored by the Lord! The Lord is with you.”

To provide context, Mary was a virgin and was engaged to be married to a man named Joseph. She must have been scared straight when the Angel Gabriel came to announce that she was pregnant without having sex. What is intriguing to me about this passage is that the baby was a HOLY interruption in Mary’s plans for marriage and for her future.

Instead of retreating from the responsibility of carrying Jesus, she responds like this in verse 38, “I am the Lord’s servant. Let everything you’ve said happen to me.”

Mannnnn!!! Mary created space for Jesus and because of her obedience, we get to experience Him in our lives TODAY.

I don’t know if I would have responded the way Mary did! Let’s be honest, you may not be pregnant, but God is calling you to make room for a HOLY INTERRUPTION.

He wants to bless you, but if you are NOT open to what He is trying to do in your life you disqualify yourself from the favor He wants to give you!

I would rather learn this lesson now than look back and regret being disobedient to what God wanted me to do today.

My prayer for you this month is that you will allow God to interrupt your plans. I pray you will create room for Him to come in and be Lord over your life - regardless of what that looks like.

This is your wake-up call: there is favor that awaits you. Allow God to clean your house. Start bringing things to Him that you keep holding on to that you know He is telling you to let go of. Don’t waste today. Be encouraged!

Man! This was perfect timing. I feel like staying busy doing everything including picking up a second job is the best use of my time in my single season and because of that the value of my time has increased. Lately God has been bringing to surface that my time is an investment that shouldn't just be invested in just myself. I don't have room for much else so I am challenged with the scaling back so that I can make room for God and more of what matters. As a believer, I'm called to invest time in God's kingdom, the most valuable ROI is done on this side of heaven. Loved your encouraging words and perspective on how we…

Wow! Thank you for reading and commenting! I am so thankful that this was timely for you!! Yes I was shocked when God gave me the revelation about Mary and how she made room emotionally and spiritually for Jesus to be birthed. We must also do the same for Him. Is there for room for Him to come in? I am praying for you!
