Over the last 6 months, I have had nothing but TIME. And if I can be honest with you, the idea of having this slower pace has always frightened me.
Maybe many of you believe that you do have time, wish you had more time, or maybe you feel similar to me where time has frightened you.
Let me explain...
Time, as it often does, doesn’t have the decency to wait on you to get yourself together. It has a mind of its own. It refuses to wait on your procrastination, complacency, happiness, or even the people you love. Each moment comes and it goes with its successes and losses. Time doesn’t wait for you to believe in yourself so that you can pursue your God-given purpose; it will leave you to wonder if you are enough for what He has called you to.
In the same breath, you may feel like God is taking His sweet precious time to meet your needs and it has caused you to live in doubt.
James 4:14 puts it like this, “How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone.”
This verse always hits me hard because it reminds me that the moments I am given are not to be wasted filling up my schedule with unnecessary tasks, worrying, complaining, and doubting. Time was intended to be a God-given tool to glorify Him. It was never meant to frighten us but to give us the power to rule and reign on this earth. As a believer, we operate under a new system... the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God has new rules because God is our King and holds time in His hands.
2nd Peter 3:8-9 says, “But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.”
Now in this context, Peter, Jesus’ disciple, is explaining that the Lord is NOT slow about His promise in reference to salvation. And I would venture to say that this verse anchors us in the truth that the Lord is not slow in His promise as it concerns every detail of your life.
Unfortunately, I have spent the last two months wondering how God will take care of me. Crying as if God doesn’t see that I need provision and time to be creative. In fact, He has given me time to let Him fill up the space that I tried to fill with friends, work, tv, and social media with Him. 😅 😓
As I walk this faith journey, I am now understanding that the time God has given you and me is a blessing. What I think will take years to figure out, God has already taken care of!
A week ago, I asked the Lord why it is taking forever to be what He called me to be!
He convicted me by saying, “You are in the right place at the right time. You are ALREADY what I called you to be and it is time for you to start believing it.”
And maybe that’s exactly what you needed to hear as well. You are in the RIGHT PLACE at the RIGHT TIME.
God needs this space in your life to give you:
Time to think
Time to pray
Time to cry
Time to wonder
Time to discover
Time to rewrite
Time to relax
Time to wait
God’s timing is perfect even though ours is not. So rest assured that He is not a second late or a second early. The moments you try to rush are meant to mold, direct, lead, and guide you. Be encouraged.
