It's MINE

The year was 1996, my beautiful younger sister Brooke was born. This butterball of joy entered into my life and I was officially and OLDER SISTER! My heart leaped for joy as my Father, Mother, and I were no longer by ourselves anymore. We were now adding another person to our small family.
As my sister and I grew older, there was something that we would have to learn. Are you ready for it? I don’t think you are! Ok! Here it is…SHARING!
UGH!
What a concept we would have to learn! I no longer had my own toys if she wanted them, her adolescent mind knew nothing but instinctively to TAKE them! We had to learn that if we were to live under the same roof, what is mine is now hers.
Hebrew 13:16 says, “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."
Often times, once we have received this beautiful gift of Salvation we neglect that we are called to share Jesus with others! I have been very guilty of this. Having Jesus does not mean to keep quiet and say, “I’m good! I am going to Heaven now so there is no part in sharing Him with anyone.” Since we are born into His wonderful family, we are commissioned to share the good news with everyone!
We even get as far as fighting like children over what we have. We get selfish with our time that we don’t take the time to build relationships. We go about our business because, “I got to take care of ME.” Never once do we realize that Christ came for US not Himself. His unconditional love for us caused Him to “share” His life with us so we could live again.
Matthew 28:18-20 says, “Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
I’ve been guilty of having a “It’s Mine” mentality. I’m too busy to listen, I am too busy to lend a helping hand, or quite frankly my Salvation is enough for me so it doesn’t matter who needs to hear it. We must put away our apathy and join in this movement to share Christ with others. Just think about how Christ feels when another person comes into our family! He leaps for Joy knowing that the body is growing. He loves to see us share Him with other people. So let’s be intentional to share our time, talent, and treasure to show how good God has been to us!
You were made for more, because God loves you more.
