The Season is Changing...

Hello beautiful people!!!
I pray that each and every one of you is having an amazing week. I know it just started but, I am reminded of God’s grace and how He has afforded to us a new day to learn and grow.
Today, I wanted to talk to you about something that the Lord has heavily placed upon my heart and it is about SEASONS. Now, my favorite season is Summer! I love warm weather because I don’t have to wear a jacket! I also love it because I can finally get that pedicure I put off for months!!! It is FANTASTIC!
BUT…
There is a season that I am not a fan of and everybody seems to think I’m an alien for not enjoying this season.
This season is called…WINTER!!!
Do you guys realize how sad it is when the season from Fall quickly transitions to Winter. My tear ducts are literally freezing up thinking about my nose running and the bitter cold piercing through my chest! OK…I know you catch my drift (see what I did there). HA!
The point is there are some seasons that are harder for me to go through than others. I’ve found out that when you are living for God, you will go through some enjoyable and unenjoyable seasons.
Some of us are in our favorite seasons right now and many of us are having a hard time going through the rest. I am going to tell you a story in the Bible that won’t seem like it has anything to do with the topic but bare with me.
In Genesis 19, there were two men named Abraham and Lot who lived in the land of Sodom of Gomorrah. There was so much immorality in the land that Abraham pleaded with the Lord that if he could find one righteous person in the land He would spare him. During this time, Lot and his family were trying to flee the land before the Lord poured out His wrath on the people. As they were about to leave, there were angels who specifically told Lot that when he and his family left not to look back! As Lot’s family was fleeing, his wife looked back and as a result she turned into a pillar of salt.
As I was doing a study on seasons, the Lord reminded of this story because often times, we try to go back into a season that God has delivered us from. We try and go back and get that relationship, job, friends, car, or anything that we thought we missed. The truth is the season will change whether we like it or not!
Has Summer ever told Fall, “Sorry, I am staying for the rest of the year because I want too!”
NO (Well unless you live in Oklahoma)! You think I’m kidding! HA!
The fact of the matter is that the seasons we experience will change and if we are not willing to move along with them. We will then find ourselves upset, angry, discontent, and stuck in a destructive place, while the season will move on without us.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”
As you read the rest, the writer, Solomon talks about how there is a time for everything and because there is a time for everything we must REJOICE in the ONE who has given us each season. Tomorrow is NOT promised and because it’s not, we we must choose contentment DAILY. We must be cognizant of the fact that each season must serve it’s purpose in order for us to develop properly. Babies can’t skip from coming out of the womb to walking! They must learn to crawl first so that they can learn to walk. We get in a rush to become what we want to be that we fail to realize that we must prepare properly for the next season. We must get ourselves ready to receive what God has for us.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, says in Philippians 4:11-13 (NIV), “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
Let us choose contentment knowing that today could hold our final breath. God has equipped us with TODAY so, let’s make it count because the season you are in is temporary and CHANGING!
Love you all, but God most certainly loves you more.
