What do you expect?

Hi everybody! I’m excited to talk to you all because it’s been a while since I’ve done a blog! I sincerely apologize to those who read my blog, I will do much better to post more frequently!
Today, I wanted to talk to you all about a word that I’ve gained some perspective on. This word is “Expectation or the plural form…Expectations.”
Websters’s dictionary defines Expectation as a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future. Psalms 62:5 NKJV says, “My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation is from Him.”
Growing up, I was expected to do a lot things. I was expected to make great grades. I was expected to act a certain way because I grew up in church all of my life. I was expected to be anything but mediocre.
I also set a lot of expectations for myself. I expected to do good in school. I expected to play basketball for the rest of my life with a full scholarship. I expected to find my soul mate in college and be married. I put my expectations in high priority until what I expected did not come true. I allowed discouragement to be my friend and we became best friends.
Often times when what we expect doesn’t come true, we lose hope because our faith and trust was in the things that we lost. We can even get as far as to blame God for the reason why our expectations did not come to pass!
I’ve come to the realization that when our expectations are not met, we don’t expect anything good to come out of our lives. At least that is exactly what I thought! I was so used to disappointment that I did not believe God would bless me.
Proverbs 10:28 Nkjv says,“The hope of the righteous will be gladness, But the expectation of the wicked will perish.”
If we belong to Christ, Jesus then considers us righteous! We should believe that good will come out of our lives because of who we belong too!
Psalms 42:5 says, “Why are you so cast down, O my inner self? And why should you moan over me and bedisquieted within me? Hope in God and WAIT EXPECTANTLY for Him, for I shall yet praise Him, my Help and My God.”
Our greatest expectation should be Jesus Christ. God wants us to have hope because with hope we then can believe in Him! In order to believe, we must have faith in the fact that God is working everything out for our good!
Though life comes with its disappointments, it does not mean that God is not good. He is working within us patience and wants us to depend solely on Him for everything! If He is our everything, then everything we desire and expect should come from Him. In Him is where true joy lies. We can’t put our hope in our expectations because they will let us down everytime! We must put our faith in God who will never let us down.
I encourage you to start believing again. Redirect that unbelief to the Lord and expect God to do great things because He cares for you!
Love you all and be in great expectation!
