Why Me?

Hey everybody! I am so excited because I have a topic that I wanted to share with you all for sometime now!

I know the reason why you are going through what you are going through RIGHT NOW!

Sidenote: Don’t you hate how the enemy wants to come and steal your joy. He purposely takes his time to make you feel unworthy!  I have come to tell you that YOU ARE WORTHY! You have a purpose and the enemy wants you to feel as if you have nothing of value to say. His plan is to keep you quiet, so you won’t speak about the goodness of our Heavenly Father!

I say all this because, for the last couple of weeks, I was struggling with this idea of sharing Christ with others! Whether that be at my job or on stage, I felt as if no one cared what I had to say!

For the last couple of days, I have been studying the book of Genesis! I really encourage you to read the book of Genesis it’s so good! Anyways, I am going to talk about Joseph!

I’m going to attempt to summarize Joseph’s life in a paragraph, so we can move on!

In Genesis 37 you can find a boy named Joseph. He was one of twelve brothers and was his father Jacob’s favorite.  Because Joseph was his Father’s favorite, his brothers were VERY jealous of him! Joseph was a DREAMER and as young as he was, he would tell his dreams to his brothers. Most of Joseph’s dreams resulted in his older brothers serving him. This caused Joseph’s brothers to become very angry and one day his older brothers sold and threw him into a PIT.

Now I know this is a lot of text, but it will make sense in a moment! When I read this passage of scripture, I began to put myself in Joseph’s shoes. I would be so mad that I even told my brother’s my dreams! I would also begin to ask myself these questions: Why do I have these dreams? Why is it that my brothers hate me?  Am I worth the 20 pieces of silver that my brothers sold me for?

Often times, we ask ourselves these questions too! Why did I change my major, I could be making more money? Why am I not further along in my life, when everyone around me is? Why am I in debt? Why don’t people want me? Why am I in this family? Am I even good enough? The list of Why’s and What if’s go on and on, if we let it! We can ask ourselves so many unanswered questions, that it causes us to STOP doing anything all together.

Genesis 39:21 says, “But the Lord was with Joseph in the prison and showed him his faithful love, and the Lord made Joseph a favorite with the prison warden.”

Even in our own mental prison or even physical state, if the Lord was with Joseph, He will BE and IS with us!

The reason why Joseph was REJECTED by his brothers, thrown into a pit, became the highest in command, was falsely accused, went back into captivity(still trusted the Lord by the way), succeeded in all he did in jail, predicted dreams, was forgotten by a cup bearer for two years, remembered and brought back in the highest place of honor was for this very verse…

Genesis 44:4-5 says, “Please, come closer, “he said to them. So they came closer. And he said again, “I am Joseph, your brother, whom you sold into slavery in Egypt. But don’t be upset, and don’t be angry with yourselves for selling me to this place. It was GOD who sent me here ahead of you to preserve your lives.”

Could it be that the Lord is sending you and placing you through a trial, so that you can preserve someone’s life?  Could it be that you are here in this place because everything you are going through is for a hurting girl or boy? The reason why you are going through so much adversity is because God has sent you. You are called. You are chosen for such a time as this. You are called to help someone else! You can’t give up because God’s people are relying on YOU! YES, YOU!

Now that you know the reason why you are here, you should be excited that that Lord hasn’t given your destiny to someone else! It is YOURS. Christ did the work on the Cross and now it’s your turn to boldly live for Him! BE ENCOURAGED!
